About the project
Rush-Awa, the production partnership formed by MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, has released its self-titled debut album, Rush-Awa, on 23 October 2026. The 15-track South African hip-hop project brings a wide range of established names and newer voices into one collaborative release. Rather than positioning the album around one lead rapper, the duo use their production partnership to create a meeting point for different styles, generations, and corners of the local rap scene. The project follows months of anticipation and a rollout that introduced the Rush-Awa identity through key singles and high-profile featured artists.
The album builds on the momentum of “Lapisa,” featuring Dolphin_DX, LaCabra, and Lowfeye, as well as “Ntshepe,” which brought together Cassper Nyovest, Loatinover Pounds, and Sjava. The full tracklist expands that collaborative idea even further. “Chocolate 2by2” links 25K, Blxckie, and Maglera Doe Boy; “Streetz” combines Blxckie, Nasty C, and Usimamane; while “Mama” features Emtee and issi. Other contributors include Focalistic, MfanaTouchLine, FLVME, Wordz, KindlyNxsh, K.Keed, Thato Saul, Saint Cielo, and Mochen, demonstrating how broadly the album reaches across the current hip-hop landscape.
For MashBeatz and DJ Sliqe, Rush-Awa represents more than a producer compilation. It is a statement of intent for their shared platform, built around the idea that South African hip-hop can become stronger when artists from different eras and styles work together. Songs such as “Avuxeni,” “Bhenga,” “Mbali,” “Kaofela,” “Umkhonto,” and “Pray 4 It” add further depth to the 15-song offering, while the production duo remain the central creative force throughout. With its ambitious artist line-up and strong focus on collaboration, Rush-Awa arrives as a major new release for fans of South African rap in 2026.
