About the project
Amabongwa has released Umuntu, a concise four-track Maskandi EP issued on 9 February 2026. Running for approximately 18 minutes, the project delivers a compact listening experience rather than a long-form album rollout. While it may be described informally as an album, verified release listings classify Umuntu as an EP.
A defining feature of Umuntu is its full-project collaboration with Nhlakanipho. Every song credits Nhlakanipho, beginning with “Iyagqilaza” and continuing through the title track “Umuntu,” “Sdwedwe buya,” and the closing record “Ukufa.” This consistent pairing gives the release a clear identity and keeps the focus on one shared creative direction.
For Maskandi listeners looking for a brief, collaboration-led release, Umuntu offers a straightforward four-song sequence from Amabongwa and Nhlakanipho. Its short runtime makes it easy to revisit, while the track order creates a complete beginning-to-end presentation without unnecessary additions.
