THE COMPLETE PICTURE

About the project

Thabo Tonick has released Sun God, a 13-track electronic album that expands his place within South Africa’s evolving house music landscape. Released on 23 October 2026 through Stay True Sounds, the project moves across 3-Step, deep house, Afro-tech, and experimental electronic textures. Rather than following a narrow genre formula, Thabo Tonick uses the album to explore rhythm, melody, bass, and contrast across a full-length sequence. The release follows a string of singles that introduced different parts of the project, including “Bigger Than Us,” “Listen To The Kids,” and “Basstrap.”

The album opens with “Floating,” featuring KayDeep, before moving into “Liberation” with Ethan Tait. From there, Thabo Tonick guides listeners through tracks including “Listen To The Kids,” “Sun Kissed,” “The Source,” “Low Rider,” “Bigger Than Us,” “Joyboy,” “Void,” and “Wrecking Ball.” “Basstrap” sees him reunite with Hypaphonik for a 3-Step collaboration driven by heavy bass and hypnotic percussion, while “3 Legged Pot” features Spice Drums. The project closes with “Trance,” completing a 13-song tracklist that brings together solo explorations and carefully chosen guest appearances.

Sun God highlights Thabo Tonick’s willingness to trust unconventional ideas and create without forcing music into a pre-set category. His work with Stay True Sounds has already included releases such as The Fight Goes On, Seasons, “NIKA,” and “Bigger Than Us,” each helping develop his identity as a producer from Kroonstad. With this album, Thabo Tonick brings those threads into one ambitious release that connects dancefloor energy with experimental curiosity. For house, electronic, and 3-Step listeners, Sun God is a major new South African album worth hearing from its opening “Floating” through to its closing “Trance.”
