THE COMPLETE PICTURE

About the project

Umfoka Msezane has released Awulith’ Qheke, a 12-track Maskandi album that runs for approximately 55 minutes. Released on 19 October 2026, the project combines solo songs with a wide selection of featured performers from across the Maskandi scene. It opens with “Udokotela,” featuring Jiki Jiki and Shenge Wasehlalankosi, before moving into “Izinqa” and “Bafana,” which features Londeka Shangase and Limit. With its mix of longer songs, concise cuts, and recurring collaborators, Awulith’ Qheke gives Umfoka Msezane a substantial new 2026 release.

The collaborations are spread carefully across the album. “Injabulo” brings Shenge Wasehlalankosi and LIMIT NALA together with Umfoka Msezane, while “Iqiniso lami” features Qhawelisha. Mshawodi appears on “Ngyakuthanda,” and the title track, “Awulith’ Qheke,” sees Mzukulu join the artist for one of the project’s key moments. Later, Londeka Shangase returns on “Inkonzoni,” giving the album another featured performance before its closing song. This structure allows the project to showcase several voices without moving away from Umfoka Msezane as its central artist.

The final stretch includes “Ushayasbhamu,” “Uyasenyanya uNkulunkulu,” “Inkonzoni,” and “Izibotho,” with “Ushayasbhamu” standing out as the tracklist’s longest song at more than 10 minutes. That extended running time gives Awulith’ Qheke a broad album format rather than the feel of a short release. For Maskandi fans, DJs, and music bloggers looking for new South African music, the project offers multiple entry points through Jiki Jiki, Shenge Wasehlalankosi, Londeka Shangase, Limit, Qhawelisha, Mshawodi, and Mzukulu, while remaining firmly led by Umfoka Msezane.
